Inter Milan manager, Simone Inzaghi, has said that his players believe they can beat Barcelona to reach the UCL final in Munich.
He recently warned that all hands must be on deck to stop Lamine Yamal if they are to go past the Spanish side tonight.
Speaking during his press conference ahead of the clash, Inzaghi revealed that because Yamal has proven himself to be a quick thinker on the pitch this season, his players must be ready to pay close attention to him throughout the game.
The Italian manager stated that while the ideal move would have been to ensure the ball does not get to the youngster, that is simply impossible, therefore, his boys must be ready to double-mark him if need be.
According to Inzaghi, Yamal is a dangerous player with an impressive speed of thought, and even before he receives the ball from his teammates, he already knows what he plans to do with it.
“We need to keep him away from the ball, but it’s impossible.
Whether that is a double marking job or one player following him closely, we will try to always pay attention to him. He’s such a great talent at 17 years old.
Seeing him live, he’s so dangerous. Everyone gives him the ball. What impressed me was his speed of thought, he’s such a quick thinker. Even before receiving the ball, he always knows what move to make,” he said.
Simone admitted that Inter Milan will be coming up against a very strong team, and urged his players to be fully prepared to deliver a huge performance to get past high-flying Barcelona.
Inzaghi believes that his players already had a taste of Barcelona’s strength in the first leg, so they must already know they have to be switched on and clearheaded to stand any chance at San Siro.
“We are up against a strong team, we have had a taste of that first-hand in the first leg. But I hope to see a great Inter against Barcelona. We know the importance of this game.
It will take a huge performance. We need to be switched on and clearheaded. The group believes in their ability to win this game and can’t wait for it.
There’s just the right amount of tension. It’s almost a final and we get to play it in front of our fans,” Inzaghi added.
On Lautaro’s chances of playing the game after his recent injury worry, “Pavard did part of the session [on Sunday] and the feelings were good. Lautaro has been out for a week, so we will see how he is and see what decision we make tomorrow.
With Lautaro, it will all depend on how he feels. But it will be difficult for a player to help us for 25 minutes if they’re not ready to start the match,” he added.
