The acting INEC chairman, Agbamuche-Mbu, has praised Prof. Mahmood Yakubu for setting the bar high during his tenure as the commission’s chairman. She recently revealed that the major contributions and achievements achieved by Yakubu must be appreciated.
Recall that Yakubu stepped down and handed over to a national commissioner, Ms May Agbamuche-Mbu, as acting Chairman of the commission, on Tuesday.
The brief handover ceremony happened during the commission’s regular consultative meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
According to her, Prof. Mahmood deserves praise for serving Nigeria with total dedication and commitment throughout his stay in office.
Praying for the outgoing chairman to receive the Creator’s guidance for his future endeavours, Agbamuche-Mbu stated that history will definitely be kind to him and his efforts to conduct credible elections across Nigeria.
“We acknowledge the significant contributions and achievements made by Yakubu during his tenure, in particular his hard work and dedication in serving our country meritoriously.
We wish you God’s guidance in your future endeavours. As you step down, we pray for greater success in whatever you set out to do.
We are confident that history will judge you very well,” she said.
She further noted that INEC would do its very best to maintain and uphold the standards that Prof. Mahmood has set.
Agbamuche-Mbu concluded by pledging to work with the stakeholders to guarantee the success and growth of the commission.
“I pledge to uphold the integrity of the commission and work with utmost professionalism, dedication and in unity with the honourable commissioners, the RECs, the directors, all the staff of INEC nationwide,” she added.
