Former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Senator Gbenga Daniel, has said the late Chief Patrick Dele Cole bequeathed a legacy so rich in service, enterprise and wisdom that no tribute, however heartfelt, can fully capture its worth.
In a condolence message to the deceased’s son, Tonye, Otunba Senator Daniel said he received news of the elder’s passing “with profound sadness”, adding that words can hardly convey the depth of sympathy at a time like this, especially when the departed was a man whose life, intellect and accomplishments left an enduring mark on his family, his community and Nigerian society at large.
Describing Chief Cole as a distinguished Nigerian, he said the late patriarch’s remarkable life reflected a deep commitment to public service, to enterprise and to the advancement of his people. For him, that record is exactly why the loss cannot be measured in the grief of one household alone.
“His passing is therefore not only a personal loss to you and your family, but also a loss to all who had the privilege of knowing him and benefiting from his wisdom and experience,” the former governor stated.
Otunba Senator Daniel, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (FNAEng), extended his condolences on behalf of his family and himself. He prayed that Almighty God would grant the departed eternal rest and give Tonye, the entire Cole family and all who mourn him the fortitude to bear the loss.
He closed with a wish that the memory of Chief Cole would remain a blessing and that God would grant him peaceful repose.
