Nigeria’s biggest carrier, Air Peace, is dealing with flight disruptions after two of its aircraft were hit by separate bird strikes on Lagos routes.
The airline confirmed that Flight P47868, operating between Lagos and Asaba, and Flight P47424 on the Lagos–Kano route both encountered bird strikes on arrival. Following standard safety protocols, both aircraft were taken out of service and sent back to base for mandatory inspections by the airline’s engineering team.
To limit inconvenience to travelers, Air Peace deployed replacement aircraft to cover the affected routes and restore schedules as quickly as possible.
The airline apologized to passengers for the disruption, reaffirming that safety remains its top priority.
Bird strikes — collisions between birds and aircraft — are a recurring challenge in Nigeria’s aviation sector, particularly during certain weather conditions. Aviation regulations require that any affected aircraft undergo thorough technical checks before being cleared to fly again.
