Manchester City defeated Chelsea F.C. 1–0 at Wembley Stadium to claim the 2025–2026 FA Cup title in a tightly contested final decided by a single moment of quality.
The breakthrough came in the 72nd minute when Antoine Semenyo finished clinically from close range after a clever assist from Erling Haaland. The Chelsea goalkeeper was left with no chance as City took control of a match that had offered few clear-cut opportunities.
The final was largely cagey, with both sides struggling to create sustained attacking pressure. Haaland had earlier seen a potential opener ruled out for offside in the first half, while Chelsea responded with periods of pressure and dangerous crosses without seriously troubling City’s defence.
After the break, Chelsea came out stronger. Enzo Fernández came close inside the six-yard box but failed to keep his effort on target, a missed chance that proved costly as opportunities became increasingly limited.
The match, played in front of dignitaries including Prince William and preceded by the national anthem, gradually tilted in City’s favour as the game wore on.
Semenyo’s decisive strike came after Haaland threaded a pass into the box, allowing the forward to finish with composure past Robert Sánchez.
The victory secures the FA Cup for Manchester City and adds another trophy to manager Pep Guardiola’s decorated spell at the club—his 20th major honour in charge. It also keeps City’s hopes of a domestic double alive, with the Premier League title still within reach.
