President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is gradually emerging from the difficult economic period caused by ongoing reforms, declaring that “the dark days are over and light is here.”

The President gave the assurance in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslim faithful across Nigeria and around the world, stating that the sacrifices Nigerians have made over the past three years are beginning to produce positive economic results.

Tinubu said the country now enjoys a more stable economy and is becoming an attractive destination for investors, which he noted would lead to job creation and economic growth.

According to him, the economic reforms introduced by his administration, though challenging, were necessary to reposition the nation for long-term prosperity.

“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth. The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President stated.

He expressed confidence that the reforms would continue to improve security and create more opportunities for citizens across the country.

Tinubu, however, acknowledged that insecurity remains a challenge in some parts of Nigeria despite recent gains recorded by security agencies.

The President referenced the recent joint Nigeria-United States operation that led to the elimination of ISIS commander Abu-Bilal al-Manuki in the Lake Chad Basin, but noted that terrorists and bandits still pose threats to communities.

“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.

Tinubu also urged religious leaders and citizens to continue praying for peace, unity and the nation’s leadership, while encouraging Nigerians to extend love and support to the less privileged during the Sallah celebration.

Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and national renewal during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio said the season symbolises faith, obedience and selflessness as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.

“These timeless virtues of devotion, selflessness, and submission to divine will are values our nation desperately needs today,” Akpabio said.

He urged Nigerians to pray for peace, security and prosperity, while also remembering troops fighting insecurity across the country.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin also called for prayers, unity and support for vulnerable members of society.

In his Sallah message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Barau urged Nigerians to uphold the values of sacrifice, tolerance, justice and charity.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, similarly appealed to Nigerians to show kindness to the poor and needy, stressing that charity remains one of the major teachings of Islam.

Abbas, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, said Eid-el-Kabir symbolises complete submission to the will of Allah and called on citizens to remain selfless and committed to humanity.

Also speaking on the occasion, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori called for peace, unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

Okpebholo urged citizens to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice, obedience and devotion associated with the celebration, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and improved welfare.

Oborevwori, on his part, encouraged Muslims to pray for national peace, unity and development, urging them to embrace compassion and selflessness.

Similarly, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred period of faith, sacrifice and devotion.

He called on Nigerians, especially the Muslim community, to continue supporting President Tinubu’s reforms aimed at economic growth, improved infrastructure, national security and long-term prosperity.

Yilwatda further appealed for peaceful coexistence, national unity and harmony across ethnic, religious and political divides, stressing that the Sallah celebration should strengthen love and brotherhood among citizens.
