Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2026 Ekiti election, recorded a decisive victory at the polling unit of Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, on Saturday.
According to results announced by the Presiding Officer, Ms. Elizabeth Oregbemeh, Oyebanji secured 164 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Wole Oluyede, polled just eight votes. The Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate, Ayodeji Ojo, followed with one vote.
The result underscores Oyebanji’s strong showing in key polling units as voting continued across the state.
Earlier, Governor Oyebanji expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, describing the process as largely peaceful with encouraging voter turnout in several communities.
After casting his vote alongside his wife at Polling Unit 003 in Oyebanji’s Compound, RA 06, Ekiti West Local Government Area, the governor said reports from across the state indicated a smooth exercise and active participation by residents.
He, however, acknowledged minor challenges in some areas where electronic voter verification devices experienced technical glitches, leading to delays in accreditation.
Oyebanji urged voters to remain calm and patient, assuring that the issues would be addressed as the exercise progressed.
