Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has paid a courtesy visit to the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, as part of preparations for the monarch’s fifth coronation anniversary and efforts to strengthen collaboration on cultural preservation and tourism development.
Musawa disclosed details of the visit in a post shared on her social media platforms, describing the meeting as an opportunity to discuss the upcoming anniversary celebrations and explore partnerships between the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy and the Warri Kingdom.
According to the minister, the discussions focused on preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Warri Kingdom while identifying opportunities to promote tourism, attract investment, empower young people and increase global recognition of the kingdom’s historical and cultural assets.
She noted that traditional institutions remain vital custodians of Nigeria’s history, identity and cultural heritage, stressing the importance of working together to protect and showcase these treasures for future generations.
Musawa also expressed optimism about building a lasting partnership with the Warri Kingdom to ensure its cultural legacy continues to inspire Nigerians and attract international visitors.
The meeting further highlighted plans to preserve the kingdom’s heritage while leveraging its cultural assets to boost tourism, economic development and youth engagement.
Ogiame Atuwatse III, the 21st Olu of Warri, ascended the throne on August 21, 2021, succeeding his uncle, Ogiame Ikenwoli.
Activities marking his fifth coronation anniversary are scheduled to hold from August 16 to August 22, 2026. The week-long celebration will feature the Itsekiri Global Homecoming, cultural exhibitions, business and investment forums, community outreach initiatives and traditional ceremonies.
