President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House in Abuja, marking the council’s first session since June 29, 2026.
The meeting commenced at about 2:30 p.m. with the national anthem after President Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber to lead proceedings.
Those in attendance included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; ministers, presidential aides and heads of government agencies.
The council also observed a minute’s silence in honour of Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance during the Ibrahim Babangida administration, who died on July 30, 2026.
FEC members similarly paid tribute to Prof. Turner Isoun, who served as Minister of Science and Technology under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and died on July 15, 2026.
At the previous FEC meeting on June 29, President Tinubu had sworn in two newly appointed Federal Commissioners representing Bauchi and Kaduna states on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
Amina Gamawa was appointed to represent Bauchi State, while Abdullahi Mukhtar represented Kaduna State, before the council proceeded with its deliberations.
