Nigerian journalist and businessman, Dele Momodu, has warned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could abandon him after the 2027 general election.
Momodu made the statement in a post on his Instagram page while reacting to Wike’s allegation that members of President Bola Tinubu’s inner circle were planning to remove him from office after the election.
The publisher of Ovation Magazine maintained that the APC could eventually turn its back on Wike, citing the experience of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Momodu wrote: “We warned you ooo… APC is use and dump o; and you’re not even a Lagosian… Ask Nasir El-Rufai.”
His comment came after he shared a video of the APC Governors’ Forum declaring that its members would support only candidates fielded by the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking after a closed-door meeting, the forum’s chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, said the governors had resolved not to support any political alliance or arrangement that could undermine Tinubu’s re-election bid, weaken the APC or affect the party’s candidates.
Uzodinma said the forum would not endorse candidates who were not running on the APC platform, stressing that the governors’ campaign structure would remain focused on the party’s candidates at all levels.
He added that the APC Governors’ Campaign Committee would not entertain arrangements that could create divided loyalty or confusion within the party.
Reacting to the development, Momodu described the governors’ position as a response to Wike’s reported “rainbow coalition” in Rivers State, involving members of his faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Momodu, the development had created tensions between some APC governors and Wike over political candidates and alliances ahead of the election.
