MultiChoice Nigeria has introduced four new subscription packages each for DStv and GOtv, promising subscribers more content options, greater flexibility and better value for money.
The new packages will take effect from November 5, 2026, according to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Kemi Omotosho, who announced the changes during a media briefing at its headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Under the new arrangement, DStv subscribers can choose from Starter, Select, Sports and Premium packages, while GOtv users will have access to Easy, Starter, Select and Sports options.
Omotosho explained that the changes were part of the company’s strategy to attract more subscribers, simplify its subscription structure and adapt to changing viewing habits.
She said MultiChoice had not introduced new products for a long time and needed to review its business approach to meet customers’ expectations.
According to her, the company is focused on providing affordable options, giving subscribers more choices and ensuring that customers receive better value for their money.
She also highlighted the benefits of MultiChoice’s integration with French media group CANAL+, saying the partnership would create opportunities to share expertise in content production, technology and personnel across their operations.
Omotosho noted that television viewers now consume entertainment through different devices, including smart TVs, tablets and mobile phones. She said the new strategy would allow customers to access content through satellite television, terrestrial services and streaming platforms.
New DStv Subscription Prices
Under the revised pricing structure, DStv subscribers will pay the following monthly rates:
- Starter: ₦6,000
- Select: ₦11,000
- Sports: ₦21,000
- Premium: ₦44,500
The company said subscribers would be able to start with a lower-priced package and upgrade as their entertainment needs change.
The Premium package will offer the widest selection of entertainment and international sports, while the Sports package will focus on major football competitions, including the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
The Select package will emphasise local entertainment, while Starter will provide a variety of programmes at a lower entry-level price.
MultiChoice also announced complimentary access to DStv Stream and a promotional offer involving a decoder and subscription for ₦15,000 for customers choosing either DStv or GOtv.
New Channels and Entertainment Options
Senior MultiChoice Nigeria executive Tope Oshunkeye said the new packages would include new and revamped channels covering sports, films, local productions and international entertainment.
Among the changes is the introduction of SuperSport Kick Off, which will bring selected sports content together at a more accessible price.
The company is also introducing M-Net Movies Plus, combining content previously offered through M-Net Movies 1 and M-Net Movies 2.
Another addition, M-Net Stars, will feature Hollywood movies and familiar screen personalities. Africa Magic Family has also been rebranded as Africa Magic Plus.
Oshunkeye explained that the Premium package would provide access to a broad range of international sports, including Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis and international boxing.
He added that the Sports package would concentrate on major football competitions, with subscribers expected to access Premier League matches and UEFA Champions League games for ₦21,000 monthly.
The company presented the revised Sports package as a more affordable option compared with the previous top-end price of about ₦30,000 referenced during the briefing.
DStv Subscribers Can Also Stream Without a Decoder
MultiChoice said customers would not necessarily need a satellite dish or decoder to access DStv content, as streaming would remain an option for those using compatible devices.
Oshunkeye explained that subscribers could continue using traditional satellite equipment or watch programmes through mobile phones and smart televisions, depending on their preferred method of access.
He said the new structure was designed to make entertainment more accessible to customers with different budgets and viewing preferences.
The changes come as MultiChoice faces competition from streaming platforms and seeks to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s pay-TV market.
CANAL+ took effective control of MultiChoice Group in September 2025 after its mandatory takeover offer became unconditional. The integration has created opportunities for cooperation in content, technology and distribution.
MultiChoice said the new DStv and GOtv packages represent the first phase of a broader strategy to refresh its products, improve customer choice and encourage subscribers to remain on its platforms.
The new packages are scheduled to become available from November 5, 2026.
