The Ogun State Government on Saturday sealed the Omo Ilu Foundation Complex, a property linked to the Buruji Kashamu family in Ijebu-Igbo, barely 24 hours after Hon. Rasheed Kashamu formally defected from the PDP to the APC.
Eyewitnesses said officials from the Ogun State Land Use and Amenities Charge in the Office of the Governor enforcement team arrived at the facility in the afternoon of Saturday in a Gestapo manner while a social event with scores of guests was ongoing. Despite the gathering, the officers reportedly sealed the premises with people inside the facilities.
Residents and attendees expressed shock, noting that the operation was carried out without prior notice, on a weekend, and outside official working hours, fuelling speculations of political undertones following Kashamu’s high-profile switch to the ruling party.
As of press time, neither the Ogun State Government nor the Kashamu family had issued an official statement explaining the reason for the sealing. The unexpected timing and manner of the enforcement have, however, sparked conversations across Ijebu-Igbo and on social media, with many calling for clarification over what prompted the action.
More details are expected as the situation develops.
