Nigeria’s leading full-service law firm, Aluko & Oyebode, has announced key leadership changes that underscore its incredible collection of legal talent and unwavering commitment to excellence.
After 4 successful years, Kofo Dosekun has quit her role as the company’s first female Chairman. She was majorly involved in the leading of Corporate Commercial and Banking & Finance Practices, and has been a key brain behind the firm’s growth to becoming the country’s leading law firm.
A role model and respected face in Corporate and Commercial law, Dosekun immediately joins the firm’s Founding Partner, Gbenga Oyebode, as Of Counsel. Recognized as an Eminent Practitioner in Chambers Global 2025, Kofo’s tenure directly improved the firm’s reputation across Nigeria. She has been hailed for delivering forward-thinking leadership, diversity and outstanding client results.
According to her, after aiding the development of the law firm as chairman, she now looks forward to helping the new leadership team as they usher in a new era.
“It has been an honour to help shape the growth of Aluko & Oyebode and to contribute to the firm’s reputation as Nigeria’s leading law firm. I look forward to supporting the new leadership team as they take the firm to new heights—driven by excellence, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to our clients,” she said.
Kofo’s successor, Olubunmi Fayokun, is a distinguished Senior Partner with 40 years of experience advising top-tier local and foreign clients.
Named in both the Legal500 Hall of Fame and the IFLR1000 Women Dealmakers Hall of Fame, she is a respected market leader in Corporate Commercial Law, Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Financial Services.
Fayokun has led various impactful and market-defining transactions, including Nigeria’s first Additional Tier 1 Eurobond, the demutualisation and listing of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (now Nigeria Exchange Limited) and Diageo Plc’s divestment from Guinness Nigeria Plc.
“I am excited to take on this role at such a pivotal moment in the firm’s history. We are not just building on a strong legacy—we are shaping the future of legal practice in Nigeria. With a deep bench of talent and a relentless focus on excellence, we will continue to deliver bold solutions and enduring value to our clients across industries and borders,” Olubunmi said.
As part of the leadership change, Reginald Udom, who served in flying colours as Co-Managing Partner, will exit the role from the 1st of September 2025. During his tenure, Reginald aided Aluko & Oyebode’s popularity globally, boosting its rankings and guaranteeing international growth. He is set to start serving in a senior leadership role on the firm’s Board from next month.
“These appointments reflect our strong values of meritocracy, strategic foresight, and a commitment to developing world-class leaders from within. With Olubunmi, Adeolu, and Joke at the helm, Aluko & Oyebode is ideally positioned to lead the next era of legal practice in Nigeria and beyond,” Founding Partner and Of Counsel, Gbenga Oyebode added.
