Canon Central and North Africa has played a key role in the production of the upcoming Nollywood music drama EVI, providing advanced imaging technology that helped bring the film’s visual storytelling to life ahead of its African premiere.
The highly anticipated movie is scheduled for an exclusive premiere in Lagos on March 22, 2026. The event will host filmmakers, industry stakeholders, and members of the media before the film opens in cinemas across Nigeria on March 27, 2026.
As African films continue to gain global recognition, filmmakers are increasingly adopting cutting-edge tools to achieve high-quality cinematic visuals. EVI was shot using the Canon C400 cinema camera alongside professional-grade lenses, delivering rich colours and sharp image clarity that highlight African skin tones and landscapes while meeting international production standards.
According to Rashad Ghani, Director of the B2C Business Unit at Canon Central and North Africa, the company’s technology is helping filmmakers tell authentic African stories with greater depth and visual impact. He described EVI as a strong example of how the right equipment can capture the emotion and vibrancy that define African storytelling.
Directed by Uyoyou Adia and produced by Judith Audu, with cinematography by Barnabas Emordi, EVI blends music, drama, and performance to explore themes such as identity, ambition, resilience, and second chances.
The film features a notable cast including Osas Okonyon, Uzor Arukwe, Omowunmi Dada, Ibrahim Suleiman, Femi Branch, Ariyiike Dimples Owolagba, VJ Adams, and singer Waje, all delivering dynamic performances that bring the story to life.
Following its premiere, EVI will be released nationwide, marking another milestone for Nollywood as it continues to expand its global footprint. The film highlights how the combination of compelling storytelling and advanced production technology is raising the standard of African cinema and strengthening its position on the world stage.
