A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that Sanusi Dankaka be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre over allegations that he threatened to publish nude photographs and videos of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf on Facebook.
Justice Salim Ibrahim made the order on Monday after the Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned Dankaka on two counts of cybercrime. He pleaded not guilty.
APPLESBITE reported that the DSS filed the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/699/2026, on October 22.
The prosecution alleged that Dankaka, together with others still at large, committed the offences in October 2026 in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In the first count, the DSS said he used a Facebook account, “Sanusi Dankaka Yahaya”, to claim he had nude photographs and videos of the governor and to threaten to release them to the public.
The agency said the claim was false and that the defendant intended to cause the governor annoyance, inconvenience, insult and injury.
It added that the alleged offences violate the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended.
At Monday’s proceedings, DSS counsel Yusuf Afegbua told the court that the prosecution was ready to proceed. Defence counsel Kauna Penzin also said she was ready.
After the plea, Afegbua asked for a trial date and for the defendant to be remanded at Kuje. The defence did not oppose the application.
Justice Ibrahim granted the request, ordered Dankaka’s remand and adjourned the case until December 7 for trial.
