Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly told ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura that rapper Kid Cudi’s car would be blown up — and shortly afterward, the car blew — Cassie testified Wednesday, May 14, in a Manhattan federal courtroom.
The disturbing revelation came during Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial, where Cassie detailed years of alleged abuse.
She told jurors that Combs made the threat in late 2011 after discovering she was dating the Grammy-winning rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi.
“He mentioned while we were out of the country that Scott’s car would be blown up and that he wanted his friends to see it,” said Ventura, now 38.
The next time she saw Mescudi, she said, was during a meeting at SoHo House in New York. During the meeting, Mescudi asked Combs, “What about my vehicle?”
“What vehicle?” Combs replied, and the conversation ended there, according to Cassie.
Combs and Ventura had an 11-year relationship marked by alleged manipulation, violence, and control. She testified that Combs once lunged at her with a corkscrew and kicked her repeatedly after finding out about her relationship with Kid Cudi—whom she broke up with soon after the threats.
“He found out during a ‘freak-off,’” she said, referencing the days-long sex sessions that Combs allegedly orchestrated. She claimed Combs discovered emails on her phone involving a member of his own staff that exposed the affair.
In a 2023 lawsuit, Ventura accused Combs of threatening to blow up Mescudi’s car. Around that time, the vehicle reportedly exploded in Mescudi’s driveway. The incident had previously raised eyebrows but was not publicly linked to Diddy until now.
An email Ventura sent to her mother and Combs’ former assistant in December 2011 was also entered into evidence. In it, she wrote, “The threats that [Sean Combs] has made of me are that he will release 2 sexually explicit videos: one on Xmas day [and one other].”
Jurors were shown photos of Ventura’s bruised back and legs taken by her mother. When asked if she had been truthful with her mom about the abuse, she said, “No, I told her it was the first time.”
Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. If convicted, he faces the possibility of life in prison.
