Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has issued a strong warning against any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
The singer made the declaration as political activities intensify ahead of the election, which will determine whether Governor Ademola Adeleke secures a second term in office under the Accord Party.
Davido, who is the governor’s nephew, shared a video on his Instagram page featuring former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner, Nnenna Otti, discussing the dangers of electoral fraud and its impact on democratic processes.
Reacting to the video, the award-winning artiste vowed to stand against any effort to tamper with the electoral process, insisting that votes cast by the people must count.
According to him, anyone involved in election rigging during the poll would face serious consequences. He also stated that he would actively participate in efforts to protect the integrity of the election and support his uncle’s re-election bid.
“On August 15, anybody who tries to rig will face the consequences in the highest order. I will be in the field to defend our votes. Keke must be used if need be!!! @aadeleke_01, I’ve got your back, sir!” Davido wrote.
The singer has remained actively involved in the political developments surrounding the Osun governorship election. In recent months, he has openly criticized former governor Gboyega Oyetola, accusing him of engaging in actions capable of creating political tension in the state.
Davido’s political engagement further increased after he was appointed Head of Youth Mobilisation for the Accord Party Campaign Council, a role that places him at the forefront of efforts to rally support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election campaign.
With the election drawing closer, the entertainer’s comments are expected to add to the growing political conversations and heightened interest surrounding the contest.
