Dr. Deji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats sensation David “Davido” Adeleke, has publicly addressed ongoing paternity allegations involving his son, confirming that multiple DNA tests have definitively ruled out the teenage girl at the center of the controversy as Davido’s child.
In a rare press appearance on Wednesday, the billionaire businessman revealed the family conducted thorough testing and would have welcomed the child without reservation had results indicated otherwise.
The dispute involves Ibadan resident Ayo Labinjo, who claimed she had a relationship with Davido early in his career that resulted in her daughter, Anu. Labinjo alleged the singer abandoned the child.
The matter recently resurfaced when an Instagram account purportedly belonging to the now 12-year-old girl requested Davido undergo another DNA test. Last week, the singer responded publicly, reiterating that previous DNA tests had already disproven paternity.
The appeal followed an open letter allegedly written by young Anu Adeleke, describing school bullying over not knowing her father and asking Davido to clarify the situation publicly.
During his statement, Dr. Adeleke emphasized the family’s willingness to accept the child if testing had confirmed the relationship.
“I am Deji Adeleke, father to five children—three sons and two daughters. David Adeleke, known to you all as Davido, is my youngest,” he stated. “This is my first press conference, called for one reason only. While I don’t use social media, I understand this issue resurfaces annually regarding a young girl named Anuoluwapo from Ibadan, with Kemi Olunloyo persistently claiming David is her father.”
Dr. Adeleke recounted first learning of the claim in 2014 through a DHL package from Ibadan containing photos of Davido with the child, a birth certificate naming “Adeleke David” as father, and correspondence from the child’s grandmother—a widow who requested paternity testing while clarifying she sought neither marriage nor money.
