About 100 inmates, including those on death row, in Kano Correctional Centre have asked for clemency from the state government and the state Committee on Prerogative of Mercy.
Other inmates seeking clemency include those serving life imprisonment, those serving long sentences, inmates with serious medical challenges, elderly inmates and others.
This was made known by the state Correctional Centre Public Relations Officer, Musbahu Mata, in a statement on Thursday.
He said the controller of the state command, Suleiman Inuwa, had presented the list of inmates who applied for clemency to the Prerogative of Mercy Committee, Chairperson, Hajiya Bebeji, following the committee’s visit to the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Janguzu, Kano.
