The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a wanted notice for Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, a close ally of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in connection with an alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering case.
In a statement released by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media & Publicity, the EFCC revealed that Achimugu, 51, is wanted for an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
Apples Bite Magazine’s preliminary findings suggest that Achimugu had secretly channeled funds to opposition leaders Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 elections.
According to reports, President Bola Tinubu was reportedly “furious and felt betrayed” after intelligence suggested funds linked to Achimugu were traced to Governor Sanwo-Olu, potentially jeopardizing the governor’s political standing.
Atiku Abubakar’s camp vehemently denied the allegations, with media aide Paul Ibe describing them as a “blatant lie” and a “futile campaign of calumny” aimed at advancing political interests.
The EFCC has provided detailed information about Achimugu, noting she is an indigene of Ofu Local Government Area in Kogi State, with her last known address at 6C Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja.
The commission is urging the public to provide any information about Achimugu’s whereabouts. Individuals with relevant information can contact the EFCC through various offices nationwide, including:
- Phone: 08093322644
- Email: info@efcc.gov.ng
- Nearest Police Station or security agencies
The wanted notice emphasizes the serious nature of the allegations and the ongoing investigation into the suspected financial irregularities.
