The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted in connection with allegations of fraud.
According to the anti-graft agency, the former minister is being sought over her alleged involvement in financial irregularities linked to public funds during her tenure in office. The EFCC stated that the declaration became necessary after efforts to invite her for questioning reportedly proved unsuccessful.
The commission has not yet released full details of the specific charges or the exact amount allegedly involved, but confirmed that investigations are ongoing as part of broader scrutiny of activities within the ministry during her period of service.
The EFCC urged members of the public with useful information on her whereabouts to report to its nearest office or law enforcement authorities.
Sadiya Umar Farouq, who served in the cabinet of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has not publicly responded to the latest declaration at the time of this report. The development adds to ongoing anti-corruption investigations targeting former government officials across various sectors.
