Enugu State Government has received ₦1.28 billion in recovered funds from Sujimoto Construction Limited, following successful prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The handover ceremony, which took place at the EFCC headquarters, marked the conclusion of a financial dispute between the real estate development company and the Enugu State Government. The anti-corruption agency facilitated the recovery and restitution process, ensuring the funds were returned to state coffers.
EFCC officials presented the cheques to representatives of the Enugu State Government in what the commission described as part of its mandate to combat economic crimes and ensure accountability in business transactions involving public funds.
Sujimoto Construction Limited, founded by developer Sijibomi Ogundele, is known for its luxury real estate projects across Nigeria. The circumstances leading to the debt and EFCC intervention remain unclear, though the successful recovery represents a significant boost to Enugu State’s revenue.
The ₦1.28 billion recovery is expected to support state development projects and public infrastructure initiatives. Officials from the Enugu State Government expressed appreciation to the EFCC for its role in facilitating the fund recovery.
