Moruf Musa, who previously served as Majority Leader in the Ogun State House of Assembly, has been freed after being abducted on Tuesday evening in the Ibiade area of Ogun Waterside Local Government.
The former legislator, whose tenure ran from 2007 to 2011, was taken at around 7 p.m. while attending prayers at a mosque located on his premises.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun State Command, confirmed that authorities had deployed their Anti-Kidnapping Unit and implemented security protocols following the incident. “The alleged kidnapping of Hon. Musa Moruf in Ibiade is known to the Command,” Babaseyi stated.
A local source indicated that Musa resisted his captors for over 20 minutes, drawing attention from nearby residents during the struggle.
Police have not revealed whether ransom was involved in securing his release. Authorities continue their investigation and have called on community members to stay calm while awaiting further information.
