After the tragic wildfires that affected villages in the mountainous Limassol region in July, ExxonMobil Cyprus has contributed a total of €100,000 to 2 organisations, supporting their admirable efforts. This contribution was made after consultations with relevant stakeholders on practical assistance to the impacted areas.
€50,000 was donated to the Cyprus Red Cross, particularly to tackle needs in essential goods, while boosting the infrastructure of the local communities affected by the fires.
This support aims at offering immediate relief to affected persons, aiding the long-term recovery of the areas, and promoting social cohesion.
The remaining €50,000 was sent to the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) to fund a project, in partnership with the Commissioner for the Environment and Protection of Animals.
The project, which will concentrate on restoring dry-stone walling and planting native plants and shrubs, aims at preventing flooding and combating desertification in the affected regions.
With this heartfelt gesture, ExxonMobil has proven to be a committed company that will not stop coming up with key initiatives to support the local community.
