Osondu Victor Igwilo, widely known as “Ezeego King of the Boys,” has been extradited from Nigeria to the United States to answer charges connected to an alleged multi-million-dollar fraud operation.
Naija News reports that Igwilo first drew public attention in March 2022, when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested him during a raid in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
The EFCC said Igwilo, 52 at the time and allegedly on the FBI’s watch list since 2018, was picked up alongside three other suspects, Okafor Nnamdi Chris, Nwodu Uchenna Emmanuel, and John Anazo Achukwu.
Sources told SaharaReporters that Igwilo was flown out of the country on Monday afternoon from the Kuje Custodial Centre in Abuja, confirming the extradition took place that day.
The source claimed Igwilo wielded substantial influence during his time in custody, allegedly dictating affairs within the prison yard and maintaining close ties with facility officials at Kuje, which the source described as plagued by corruption.
The source further alleged that a former inmate named Shettima, recently released after completing his sentence, swindled Igwilo out of more than ₦200 million on the promise of blocking the extradition.
