The Gombe State Police Command on Tuesday arrested 22 suspects including a 32-year-old David Ochuko, and 27-year-old Jibril Sani for impersonation, conspiracy and being in possession of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Parading the suspects at the command on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, said the suspect was arrested for impersonating to be an Assistant Superintendent of Police, adding that Ochuko was nabbed with dried leaves suspected to hemp.
Abubakar said, “That on the 7th of February, 2024, the suspects were arrested with six blocks of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
“Inside the said Ochuko’s Toyota Camry car, they were arrested along Dasa village of Dadin-kowa. He was arrested with an ASP identity card with army operational cap.”
Also paraded were Yahaya Abdulkadir, Shuaibu Ahmadu, Musa Hussaini, Usman Haruna, Adamu Munkaila, Abdulmalik Mohammed, Dangunde Abba, Abdulsalam Shehu, Abdulmalik Garba, Ibrahim Yunusa, and
Babangida Idris, arrested for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery.
“Yahaya Garba reported at the Gombe Division that an unknown person robbed him of his Bajaj motorcycle and injured him where one Yahaya Abdulkadir, conspired with one Shuaibu Ahmadu, and robbed the complainant. Our detectives responded and led to the recovery of the stolen property, including three Bajaj motorcycles, from the suspects’ residences.
“Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi reported at the station that some hoodlums numbering about seven with machetes and sticks trespassed into his house and robbed him of his valuable items.
‘Mustapha Mato of DEBA ward went to the Deba Division and reported that earlier that day the above named suspects fought with one Samaila Yusuf, aged 30 years and inflicted deep cuts on his back and head using a cutlass.
The PPRO said the victim was rushed to the hospital but died while receiving treatment noting that detectives from Deba Division had launched full-blown investigations which revealed that the victim was an alleged drug dealer. He said the suspects were his customers and a fight ensued after altercations between them.
The case is still under investigation and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
According to the police spokesperson, “Monday Okoye reported at the Gombe Divisional Police Headquarters that his DAF trailer truck was stolen by an unknown person. On receipt of the complaints, our operatives swiftly responded and recovered the stolen truck along Biu road while in the process of investigation, one Ibrahim Yunusa and Babangida Idris were apprehended in connection with the theft.”
The command’s Public Relations Officer disclosed that three Bajaj motorcycles and a DAF trailer truck were recovered, adding that investigation was going on.
