Former Director of Army Public Relations at the Army Headquarters, retired Brigadier General Mohammed Danjuma Yusuf, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his wife, Hajiya Nana Hauwa Yusuf.
Hajiya Hauwa reportedly passed away in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, 2026, after suffering a heart attack. She was said to have been rushed to the emergency unit of the National Hospital, Abuja, where doctors confirmed her death.
Before her retirement in 2024, the deceased served as Director of Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation in the Primary Health Care Department of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Primary Health Care Board.
A native of Kogi State, Hajiya Hauwa recently celebrated her 62nd birthday on May 3, 2026, at her Abuja residence in the company of family members, friends and professional associates.
Confirming the development, her son, Mohammed Dantala Yusuf, said she died despite efforts by medical personnel to save her life.
According to him, she was laid to rest later that day at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
Meanwhile, reports have also emerged detailing the abduction of former Director of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar Batsari (retd.), and his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, by armed bandits in Katsina State.
The retired military officer, his wife and their driver, Abdullahi Sa’idu, were reportedly travelling to Katsina when gunmen ambushed them along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli Road in Matazu Local Government Area on Saturday and whisked them away.
