Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Ibrahim Aliyu, has passed away following a prolonged illness.
Family sources confirmed the former deputy governor’s death, stating that he died in Sokoto after battling illness for some time.
Aliyu served as the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State under the administration of former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari from 2007 to 2015, where he played a significant role in the state’s governance and public administration.
Reacting to the sad development, Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, described Aliyu’s passing as a huge loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State, and Nigeria as a whole.
In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the governor praised the late statesman for his outstanding contributions to the development of the state and his unwavering commitment to public service.
Governor Idris said Ibrahim Aliyu was widely respected for his integrity, humility, honesty, and dedication throughout his years in public office. He noted that before becoming deputy governor, Aliyu also built a distinguished career in the civil service, earning admiration for his professionalism and selfless service.
According to the governor, the late former deputy governor left behind a lasting legacy of exemplary leadership that will continue to inspire future generations of leaders in Kebbi State.
He added that Aliyu’s contributions to the growth and welfare of the people of Kebbi would remain unforgettable.
“His invaluable contributions to the development of our state and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of our people will continue to inspire generations,” the governor said.
Governor Idris prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family during this difficult period.
He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the Yauri Emirate, the bereaved family, friends, associates, and the entire people of Kebbi State over the loss of one of the state’s most respected leaders.
