Nollywood actress Lala Akindoju has come out to reflect on becoming a mother while dealing with the loss of her father. She recently described the experience as both divine and demanding, and fans have been reacting.
Flaunting pictures of her son to celebrate his first birthday, Lala revealed that giving birth one week after she lost her dad was not an experience she was prepared for.
According to the moviestar, as soon as the reality of the arrival of her child hit her, it became obvious that she had to focus on parenthood even while she was grieving.
“Having a child and losing my daddy weeks apart was not something I hoped for, neither was I ready for it.
But having a child is such a divine, selfless, high calling because another human being literally depends on you for their survival.
And so, in spite of whatever life throws at you, you have to brace up and be a parent, a mother, because this beautiful being whom you love beyond words needs you,” he said.
Lala further appreciated her support system, stressing that she was only able to cope with motherhood, work and grief with their help.
The moviestar concluded by saying that one year after giving birth, she feels nothing but gratitude for the progress her family has made thus far.
“So, as I look back at this past one year of having Adéìyèolú in our lives, I look back with so much gratitude.
Navigating building a career, grief, and being a new mum, breastfeeding, travelling and raising a four-year-old is no joke, and I don’t mince words when I say it has taken a village,” she added.
