Pastor Shyngle and Stella Wigwe, the parents of former Group CEO of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, have written a heartfelt tribute to mark what would have been his 58th birthday.
Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife Chizoba and their first son Chizi, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Southern California, USA, on February 9, 2024. The crash also claimed the lives of Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), and two crew members.
Born on August 15, 1966, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Herbert Wigwe’s parents expressed the profound sorrow they felt over their son’s passing but took comfort in their faith.
They said, “Words cannot express the depth of our love for you and the immense void your absence has left in our hearts. Today, 58 years ago, God blessed us with the precious gift of you, our beloved ‘Gege.’ Though your departure was sudden and heartbreaking, we find solace in knowing that only the Almighty can mend our shattered hearts.”
Herbert Wigwe’s younger brother, Emeka, who cut short his trip to the United States to be with their parents on this difficult day, also shared his grief, writing, “As I pen these words on what would have been your 58th birthday, the weight of your absence weighs heavy on my heart. It feels as though a piece of the world has been taken with you, leaving a void that can never be filled.”
