The Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, has hailed the official launch of Tikera Africa’s “The Village” in Abuja.
Hannatu recently revealed that the launch represents a transformative milestone in advancing the country’s creative economy, empowering local creatives, and upholding cultural heritage, all in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The high-profile gathering united prominent figures from the arts and media sectors to applaud Tikera Africa’s commendable vision to guarantee an inclusive and economically viable creative industry across the continent.
Owned by internationally acclaimed photographer and creative entrepreneur Bayo Omoboriowo, Tikera Africa is a brand that focuses on creating sustainable creative ecosystems via innovation, education, and policy advocacy.
Speaking, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa revealed that the launch is a vital moment for Africa’s creative economy, stressing that the Ministry’s collaboration with Tikera Africa, especially through the Reimagining Hope Residency, has already yielded tangible results.
The event brought together talented Nigerian singers whose songs combine cultural heritage with contemporary relevance, amplifying the National Art Collection and flaunting Nigerian creativity in government institutions and embassies across the globe.
A major highlight of the day was the unveiling of a women-led artisan empowerment initiative, in partnership with the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim.
The programme was organized to aid the transformation of traditional craftsmanship like weaving into profitable ventures. By so doing, underseved women can be kept occupied with business mentorship and sellable skills. The women also get to enjoy free access to enterprise incubation hubs.
“This initiative does not merely teach weaving, it transforms lives. It preserves our heritage while giving women the tools to achieve economic independence. Our artisan communities are not relics of the past, they are living custodians of innovation and identity,” Hannatu Musa Musawa said.
She reaffirmed that Tikera Africa’s mission fully aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda which prioritizes employment opportunities, youth empowerment, cultural diplomacy, and the diversification of Nigeria’s economy.
“By combining education, craftsmanship, and creative enterprise, we are charting a path where the creative sector becomes a strong contributor to GDP growth, tourism development, and international trade,” she added.
