New Real Madrid signing, Dean Huijsen has said that Sergio Ramos is his football idol.
He recently shared that he wants to be like the Los Blancos legend because he loved watching him play in a Madrid shirt.
Speaking to the newspaper Diario AS, Huijsen revealed that Ramos is the reason he wants to be a complete defender, and he loved the fact that he played with personality, leadership and a reliable goalscoring ability.
“I try to aspire to be like Sergio Ramos. He’s my idol. For me, he’s very complete, he had everything. In terms of leadership, goalscoring, personality, character,” he said.
Huijsen said that his initial plan was to play at Bournemouth for at least 2 seasons, but Real Madrid’s interest resulted in a quick transfer, and he cannot complain.
“My plan was to spend two years at Bournemouth, and grow, and then figure out what to do next. But things have moved very quickly, faster than I expected,” the Spaniard said.
The young defender confirmed that he has already spoken to Xabi Alonso about the role expected of him at Real Madrid next season, and the club’s new manager has explained how he would be used.
Huijsen concluded by saying that he looks forward to playing football alongside superstars like Vini, Bellingham and Mbappe, stressing that he now has unbelievable footballers as teammates.
“We’ve talked a bit about the team and what he has in mind, and about the project. Of course, we want to win things again, and I’m sure we will… I don’t think it’s sunk in yet. But I’m here at Madrid, and I’ll try to do my best.
I want to play with the best. [Kylian] Mbappé, Vinícius [Júnior], Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham, all those in attack — they’re some of the best there is,” he added.
