Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has dismissed reports claiming he was involved in the rescue of three members of the Adelabu family who were abducted in Oyo State.
In a statement, Igboho described the reports linking him to the operation as false and misleading, insisting that he had no role in the rescue mission.
He explained that the successful operation was carried out solely by security operatives who tracked the kidnappers to their hideout, rescued the victims, and arrested suspects connected to the abduction.
According to him, full credit for the operation should go to the security agencies involved, noting that they handled the mission professionally.
“The operation was carried out by security personnel who tracked down the kidnappers’ hideout, rescued the victims and arrested suspects linked to the abduction,” the statement read.
The clarification followed comments attributed to media personality Rufai Oseni, who was said to have suggested Igboho’s involvement in the rescue effort.
Igboho rejected the claim and urged the public to rely only on verified information regarding the incident.
The victims, who are relatives of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, were recently freed during a police-led operation in the state.
The rescue has drawn widespread attention and praise, with residents and officials commending security agencies for the successful operation.
