IJEBU ODE, OGUN STATE – The Ogun East Senatorial District is set for another major stir this week as the Otunba Gbenga Daniel led BATOGD Movement continues its high-profile Local Government Assessment Tour, on Tuesday, May 12, with Ijebu Ode Local Government next on the list. The movement has announced that it will storm the iconic Obalofin Court, GRA for a decisive engagement aimed at deepening grassroots participation and delivering direct empowerment to residents.

Since the tour commenced earlier in 2025, BATOGD has systematically moved across nearly all nine local government areas of Ogun East, reinforcing its presence and listening to the concerns of party faithfuls, supporters, and ordinary citizens. Following well-attended stops in other councils, the Ijebu Ode leg promises to be one of the most significant, given the area’s strategic political importance.

According to a statement released by the movement’s leadership, the Obalofin Hall event will not be a mere political rally. It is designed as a dual-purpose forum: fostering meaningful interaction between the movement’s leadership and the grassroots, while also rolling out empowerment programmes aimed at providing tangible relief and encouragement to locals amid prevailing economic challenges.

“BATOGD remains committed to people-oriented leadership, inclusiveness, and continuous engagement with the electorate,” the statement read. “The Assessment Tour is structured to strengthen the bond between the movement and the people, creating real opportunities for dialogue and support.”

Beyond the empowerment schemes and lively activities, organizers have emphasized that the tour serves a more strategic purpose: it offers residents of Ogun East a rare platform to engage directly with H.E. Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), the former governor of Ogun State and the movement’s central figure. As Daniel moves through the wards, he is actively seeking feedback, suggestions, and contributions from the grassroots — inputs that the movement says will help shape a more united and progressive Ogun East.

“We are not here to talk at the people; we are here to listen,” a senior BATOGD official noted. “Otunba Daniel believes that sustainable development must be built on the voices of those at the base of the political structure.”

Ijebu Ode Braces for Political Energy

With the tagline “BATOGD… Moving Ogun East Forward,” the movement has called on all supporters, residents, and political stakeholders in Ijebu Ode to converge at Obanta Hall. Security and crowd management measures are reportedly being put in place to accommodate what is expected to be a massive turnout.

“Ijebu Ode, get ready as the movement comes alive at Obanta,” the organizers declared.

As the BATOGD Movement continues its ward-to-ward assessment across the nine local governments of Ogun East — including Ijebu East, Ijebu North, Ijebu North East, Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode, Sagamu, Ikenne, Remo North, and Ogun Waterside — all eyes will be on Obanta Hall to see how this next phase of grassroots mobilization unfolds.

With several local governments already covered since the tour began in early 2025, political analysts note that BATOGD’s sustained ground game signals a long-term strategy of voter engagement and community organization, rather than a short-term campaign. Whether this momentum will translate into broader political realignment in Ogun East remains to be seen, but for now, the movement shows no signs of slowing down.

Details at a glance:

· Event: BATOGD Local Government Assessment Tour
