Iran has announced that it is considering a new proposal to reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz within two days, provided the United States agrees to meet its conditions.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry disclosed the development on Monday, indicating that the country could accelerate its earlier proposal, which had suggested a one-week timeline for restoring access to the vital shipping route.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, said the proposed two-day arrangement demonstrated Iran’s willingness to resolve the situation and restore security in the waterway.
According to Baqaei, Iran believes that an agreement on its demands could make it possible to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume diplomatic negotiations within a short period.
He explained that the country was prepared to make progress if the United States responded positively to its conditions.
Baqaei also confirmed that diplomatic communications between both sides were continuing through an exchange of messages, suggesting that discussions over the situation remained ongoing.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime routes, serving as a major passage for international oil and gas shipments. Any disruption to shipping activities in the area has significant implications for global energy supplies, oil prices and international trade.
Iran’s latest proposal could therefore represent an important development in efforts to restore normal shipping activities through the strategic waterway, although its implementation depends on the outcome of discussions with the United States.
