Far-right national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has threatened to resign from government if the Gaza ceasefire deal is approved.
His party, Jewish Power, which accounts for just six seats, gave Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition just enough to form a majority in the 120-seat parliament before the war.
But its departure from the coalition would not bring down Netanyahu’s government.
The centrist leader of the parliamentary opposition, Yair Lapid, has previously said he would shore up the government from the outside in the event of a right-wing mutiny over any hostage deal.
“Apples Bite Magazine” reports that a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas is due to come into force on Sunday.
It will see hostages set free, a phased withdrawal of IDF forces from parts of Gaza and an end to Israel’s aerial bombardment.
There is, though, a great deal of uncertainty about the deal and its chances of long-term success.
