Following extensive sand-filling operations along Water Corporation Way that affected major beaches including Landmark, Lagos residents and visitors now have a refreshed selection of coastal destinations spanning the Eleguishi, Ajah, Eleko, Badagry, Tarkwa Bay, Ibeshe, Ikaare, and Ilashe areas. Here’s your comprehensive guide to Lagos’s most sought-after beaches this year.

Leading Beach Destinations in Lagos: 2025 Pricing Guide

1. Elegushi Beach

Location: Water Corporation, Oniru

Lagos’s premier beach destination boasts stunning ocean views and multiple independent lounge operations, including Wavebeach, 234loft Beach, Atlantic White Beach, Skyfall Club, Voda Beach Club, Mood Beach Club, and Kids Beach Garden.

Entry: ₦1,000 at main gate; individual lounges charge ₦2,000–₦3,000 for access to their spaces. Cabana rentals available up to ₦150,000.

2. Tarkwa Bay Beach

Access: Water transport only

The second most frequented beach in Lagos offers a unique experience as it’s reachable exclusively by boat. The journey itself adds to the adventure, with transport options ranging from budget-friendly banana boats to private vessels. Several beach houses operate along this shoreline, including Lighthouse Beach House, POP, and Jaybee Beach House.

Transport: ₦500 (banana boats) to ₦7,000 per person (private boats) Entry: ₦1,000; additional charges for chair rentals, tents, and sound equipment (₦2,000–₦10,000)

3. Santa Cruz Beach

Location: Ogbombo, Abraham Adesanya (Ajah)

An excellent choice for budget-conscious event planners, Santa Cruz offers flexible arrangements, horseback riding opportunities, and abundant seashell collecting.

Entry: ₦2,000; ₦5,000 one-time corkage fee for outside food and beverages

4. Barracuda Beach and Atican Beach

These neighboring public beaches are appreciated for their ample parking, courteous staff, and affordability for private events. Both locations are ideal for seashell hunting and horseback riding.

Exclusive Private Beaches

10. Ilashe Private Beach

Location: Amuwo Odofin coastline

Lagos’s most celebrated private beach comprises several exclusive beach houses along the waterfront. This tranquil escape from urban chaos is accessible only by water—a 40-minute boat journey from Lekki. The local community is known for its hospitality. Banana boats depart from CMS ferry terminal, while speed boats and luxury vessels are available from Lekki, Victoria Island, and Ikoyi.

Transport: ₦3,000 per person (banana boat); ₦15,000 per person (speed/luxury boat) Accommodation: Beach house rentals range from ₦500,000–₦1,000,000 Note: Beach house booking required for beach access

Planning Your Beach Visit: Essential Considerations

Budget Planning: Entry fees and ancillary costs vary significantly between venues. Factor in whether you’re traveling solo or with a group when evaluating expenses.

Proximity: Lagos remains a fast-paced metropolis beyond beach hours. Research locations nearest to your base to minimize post-visit travel fatigue.

Crowd Preferences: Different beaches attract varying demographics and visitor volumes. Consult experienced beachgoers or contact specialists like Kampari Tours for recommendations.

Amenities Quality: For extended stays, investigate the standard and safety of on-site resorts and lounges beforehand.
