A widespread power outage has disrupted electricity supply across key parts of Abuja, including the Presidential Villa, Supreme Court, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, and several high-profile government and residential areas.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed the outage in a statement issued on Saturday, attributing the disruption to a technical fault.

The company said its technical team, in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), is already working to restore power to affected locations.

“We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” AEDC said.

Areas affected by the blackout include the State House, Supreme Court, Central Area, Asokoro, Maitama, Garki (Areas 2, 3, 7 and 8), Lugbe, Airport Road, and several embassies and institutions such as the European Union office, National Planning Commission, National Hospital, and multiple diplomatic missions including India, Pakistan, Egypt, Sudan, and Turkey.

Others affected are hotels, residential estates, government lodges, security formations, and parts of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, including surrounding aviation facilities.

AEDC noted that efforts are ongoing to fully restore supply and normalize power across the affected parts of the capital.
