Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah has said that winning the 2024-25 EPL title is more special than winning the league with under Jurgen Klopp.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Salah revealed that the level of personal impact he had to win the league under Slot is way more than he had with Klopp, so the former definitely has a bigger place in his heart.
According to him, it feels incredible to be an EPL champion again after 5 years, and while he respects what the club did under Klopp to win the league during the pandemic, this recent triumph definitely means a lot more.
Salah believes that scoring the number of goals that he scored while doing everything possible to keep fighting for the club against all odds makes the 2024-25 title triumph a special achievement for him personally.
“It’s incredible. Winning the Premier League and having the impact I’ve had is incredible. For me, this [title] feels more special. Jurgen [Klopp] is not here and other players I respect a lot are not here, but to do it with a new manager and a new team shows what I’m capable of,” he said.
The Egyptian international added that adapting to a new coach and his new ideas is never an easy task, especially during a sudden transition period, so Liverpool’s latest trophy would understandably mean a lot to him, his teammates and the supporters.
Meanwhile, during the title-deciding match that saw Liverpool thrash Tottenham 5-1, Mohammed Salah scored again to become the highest foreign goalscorer in the EPL by overtaking Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero in the all-time scorers list, going 5th with his 185th league goal.
Only 4 English players are currently ahead of him on the all-time scorers list, and they are Alan Shearer with 260 goals, Kane with 213, Wayne Rooney with 208, and Andy Cole with 187.
After an unsuccessful stint with Chelsea, where the Egyptian was only able to score his first 2 EPL goals, he hasn’t looked back at all. Salah has since gone on to score a ridiculous amount of goals in a Liverpool shirt, and the lowest return came in the 2023-24 campaign when he still managed to deliver 18 goals.
Salah got criticised in recent weeks as the Reds stuttered towards the title, however, his latest goal vs Spurs took his goal involvements this season to a whopping 46, with 4 games still to play.
