Popular singer Victony has said that his car accident made his parents more supportive of his music career.
Recall that, in 2021, the talented artist was involved in a tragic accident that killed one person and injured 3 others.
Speaking during an interview with Behind The Prestige podcast, Victony said that his parents, who were initially not in support of his career as a musician, became more receptive to the idea after the life-changing experience.
According to him, his mum and dad were hell bent on him completing his education and pursuing a career in engineering, but after the car accident 4 years ago, the massive support he got from Nigerians made them realize that people genuinely cared about their son’s music.
He disclosed that it also made his parents see how fulfilled he felt to know how much impact his music was having on others.
“My parents were not cool with me doing music from the jump. They didn’t tell me to stop, but they weren’t 100% supportive of it.
They hoped I’d finish school and become an engineer.
But when I had my accident in 2021 and they saw how much impact I had on people, how people on social media were posting things like ‘pray for Victony’, they realised my music career meant a lot to me and just let me do what I wanted,” he said.
Victony took the Nigerian music scene by storm after his collaboration with Mayorkun on his popular song, “Holy Father.”
He is currently signed to Mainland Block Party, a record label founded by Nigerian music executive Tobi Mohammed.
2 years ago, Victony went as far as referring to the tragic accident as “a blessing in disguise.”
