Popular Afrobeats singer, Orezi, has opened up on the reason why he faded from the music scene.
He recently revealed that his lack of ambition after he gained fame and fortune is responsible for his career decline.
Speaking during an interview with HipTV, Orezi said that relaxing after dropping his past hit songs made him step away from the scene for a while, and that break eventually impacted his progress in the Nigerian music industry.
According to him, the music game is very competitive, and if you are not consistent enough to deliver quality music back to back, your shine will fade pretty quickly.
The singer disclosed that he simply became comfortable enough to keep enjoying himself on vacation, and that lack of hunger automatically took him out of the music scene.
“I faded out [of the music industry] because I became less ambitious and comfortable with where I am. I was always on vacation, enjoying myself. I became less ambitious and took myself out of the competition [in the music industry],” he said.
Orezi now believes staying hungry amid the intense battle for relevance among several other talented musicians is the way to longevity as an artist.
He then praised Davido for continuously hustling like an underground artist despite all of his success and accomplishments over the years.
“Competition fuels consistency. Look at Davido for example, he hustles like an underground artist. He has money and fame but he still maintains his hustling spirit,” he added.
