The National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) is set to make a grand return to Abuja from November 22 to November 30, 2024, hosted by the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC). The announcement was made by Obi Asika, the Director General of the NCAC, who emphasized the festival’s role as Nigeria’s cultural Olympics and a showcase of the nation’s rich heritage.
“This year’s NAFEST promises to be a world-class event, reimagined to celebrate and connect our diverse cultures through friendly competition,” said Asika. “With the theme ‘Connected Culture,’ we aim to highlight Nigeria’s incredible cultural diversity through a series of exciting performances and events.”
The festival will feature a vibrant array of activities, including performances by both superstar Nigerian artists and emerging talents, stand-up comedy, and engaging performing troupes. Attendees can look forward to a dynamic book fair, as well as competitive segments like the Swag Show, Dance-Off, and Sing-Off, where states will vie for top honors.
In addition, the festival will offer a unique blend of traditional and contemporary culture with Dambe exhibitions and masquerade performances. The National Stadium, the Arts Village, various galleries, and other venues across Abuja will serve as the backdrop for this cultural extravaganza.
Special highlights of NAFEST include the Jollof Wars, where the best Nigerian dish will be crowned, and exhibitions and panel discussions hosted by eight prominent galleries led by @rv_windsor, all centered around the festival’s theme. The NCAC Honors Gala will also celebrate outstanding ambassadors of Nigerian culture.
