Popular radio personality and comedian Nedu Wazobia has refuted claims that he was fired as host of “The Honest Bunch” podcast, explaining that he voluntarily stepped away from the show amid mounting personal attacks.
Speaking at a Thursday press conference, Nedu addressed allegations made by social media critic VeryDarkMan, who had accused him of demanding sexual favors in exchange for skit roles. “I was not fired from ‘The Honest Bunch,’ I was never fired,” Nedu emphasized. “I decided to step away when the attacks became very personal so that the show can go on.”
The controversy erupted after comedian DeeOne appeared on the podcast and made allegations about VeryDarkMan’s sexuality. In retaliation, VeryDarkMan launched a series of accusations against Nedu, including claims of NGO-related fraud and promises to expose names of women allegedly involved in exchanging roles for sexual favors. These allegations prompted further accusations from public figures who had previously appeared on the show, including Saida Boj, Yvonne Jegede, and Mr Nigeria Supranatural Ugo Nwokolo.
Maintaining his composure, Nedu stated, “I am not one to indulge in petty exchanges of words, that’s not who I am.” He defended the show’s platform, explaining that guest opinions do not reflect the show’s stance, and expressed no regrets about inviting DeeOne to the podcast. His team has indicated they may pursue legal action against VeryDarkMan.
