Also, a visit to Gtbank within the 1004 flats on Victoria Island was not different either. The bank ATM still dispense old notes when our Correspondent withdrew money there.
A customer at the bank was overheard lamenting about the situation whereby, a few days before the deadline, the bank are yet to comply with the directive.
According to him, “if banks are still dispensing old notes, how will it meet up with the deadline?” He queried.
The CBN has however accused the commercial banks of circumventing the January 13 deadline that it should stop dispensing old notes.
Recall that Gtbank was sanctioned in the United Kingdom recently for money laundering and for not following due process in its operations.
Managing Director of Nirsal Microfinance Bank, Abubakar Kure said there’s need for the CBN to meet with the managing directors of commercial banks to know the rationale for flouting its directive.
