Match makers consult and partner SIAO have intensified preparations to stage the 8th edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards billed to hold in March 2022 in a yet to be announced venue . Penciled down for the awards is Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
President of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, Shina Philips announced this at a media luncheon held at Ibis Hotel, Ikeja in Lagos Tuesday afternoon, while unveiling plans and strategy for the forthcoming awards ceremony.
Addressing sports Journalist at the parley, Phillips disclosed that the First Lady will be presented with the Special Achievement in Sports Award, for her successful hosting of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Football tournament.

Continuing , he said “she has become Africa’s champion for the advancement of the rights of the girl child.”
Also penciled down to receive award is the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman for his “Operation Restore Peace” in the South East and South-South initiative. Ex- Nigeria international, Daniel Amokachi will also be honoured with a special recognition award for his contributions to football at the ceremony.
“Since the Nigeria Pitch Awards started, we have observed a renewed interest in identifying with a credible reward system by members of the football community, notably the Super Eagles, footballers, officials and sports journalists, who look forward to the yearly celebration of talents, industry, commitment and patriotism’’. Philips said.
“In all, over 170 sports journalists across the country have been involved in the voting process at different times. This arguably is the largest pool of sports professionals in any award process in the country.”
