Nigerian celebrity chef and entrepreneur Hilda Baci has added another accolade to her impressive culinary portfolio, officially becoming a three-time Guinness World Records holder following validation of her September 2025 achievement.
The chef shared the news on Tuesday through her Instagram account, where she updated her profile description to “Chef X3 Guinness World Record Holder.” The announcement revealed an unexpected development: her September record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice simultaneously earned her recognition for the largest serving of rice in any category, resulting in two distinct world records from a single culinary event.
“Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. What a way to step into 2026,” Baci posted on social media.
The additional recognition emerged during a routine post-validation review conducted by Guinness World Records officials. Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering for the Records Creative Team, explained in an email to Baci that the dual achievement became apparent when comparing record criteria.
“When comparing the record guidelines, it became clear that in achieving the Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, you also achieved the title of Largest serving of rice,” Fanning confirmed.
Baci discovered the news five months after her initial September announcement while reviewing her emails. She described the moment as completely unexpected, noting that she believed the September event had resulted in only one record.
“When @ginonaija and I broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, I thought that was the end of it. I didn’t know we had also broken the record for the largest serving of rice overall,” the chef explained.
The record-setting culinary feat involved preparing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a massive cookout held in Lagos last September, representing the largest pot of jollof rice ever prepared worldwide.
This accomplishment marked Baci’s second Guinness World Record, following her groundbreaking 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon completed in May 2023, which established her as the first Nigerian chef to hold multiple world records.
Baci emphasized the collaborative nature of the achievement, particularly highlighting the contributions of @oreoluwa_atinmo in bringing the ambitious project to fruition.
“This journey and this record would not have been possible without her. From idea to execution, we worked side by side,” she stated.
The chef also reflected on the spiritual significance of the recognition, viewing it as evidence of divine blessing and provision beyond expectations.
“God is faithful—the kind of faithful that still surprises you. Even when you think you’ve seen the full picture, God can still say, ‘There’s more,'” Baci shared.
She concluded her announcement by expressing gratitude to Guinness World Records, her team members, and supporters worldwide who have championed her culinary journey.
The triple record-holder status strengthens Hilda Baci’s position as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished chefs on the international stage, while showcasing the cultural significance and global appeal of Nigerian cuisine.
