The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the orientation course for prospective corps members posted to Niger State under the 2026 Batch ‘B’ stream.
The scheme said the move was necessitated by ongoing renovation work at its Orientation Camp in Paiko, Niger State, after the facility sustained extensive damage from a recent windstorm.
The Niger State Government is currently handling the repairs.
NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the orientation could not go ahead as scheduled due to the state of the camp facilities.
She said management was making urgent arrangements to secure an alternative venue for the affected corps members, adding that a new commencement date and further details would be communicated in due course.
The statement urged affected corps members to await official communication from the scheme, noting that authorities were working to ensure the orientation takes place under safe and suitable conditions.
Embu expressed regret over the disruption caused to prospective corps members and their families, and assured them that updates on the alternative venue and new date would be released once arrangements are finalised.
