The remains of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have arrived in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, ahead of his burial.
Hassan, who died at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, 2026, was received by grieving family members, friends, colleagues and residents as preparations for his final rites got underway.
Veteran actors Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko were among the prominent colleagues who arrived in Ilaro to pay their respects and support the actor’s family.
Actress Ireti Osayemi was also present in the town for the burial, with footage of her arrival shared on social media.
Ogogo’s death came after reports that he had been battling stage-four cancer. His daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, had earlier appealed publicly for assistance as their father’s health deteriorated.
The family disclosed that the actor was suffering from an advanced stage of the illness and required urgent medical treatment. They reportedly sought further treatment after doctors indicated that chemotherapy could no longer be administered because of his condition.
According to the burial programme, the actor’s remains were brought to Ilaro for the commencement of his final rites. A lying-in-state ceremony was scheduled for Monday at the Pavilion in Ilaro before his burial.
The development has drawn mourners, colleagues and fans to the Ogun State community as the Nigerian entertainment industry continues to mourn the loss of the veteran actor.
