Daniel’s Track Record of Service Makes Him Indispensable to Ogun East Development

Distinguished Senator Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East Senatorial District, has emerged as a transformative leader whose re-election in 2027 is essential for continued progress in the region.

Daniel’s Foundation: From Business Success to Public Service

Before entering politics, Daniel established himself as a successful entrepreneur through Krestal Laurel, a household name in elevator installation across sub-Saharan Africa. Daniel’s business acumen laid the foundation for his future public service achievements.

Daniel’s Gubernatorial Legacy (2003-2011)

During his eight-year tenure as Ogun State Governor, Daniel implemented groundbreaking projects that continue to benefit residents today:

Infrastructure Development by Daniel:

  • Gateway International Stadium and Game Village, Ijebu Ode
  • Sagamu International Stadium

  • Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo
  • Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade
  • D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori
  • Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun (Nigeria’s first University of Education)

  • Launched Ogun State Employment Generation Program (OGEGEP)
  • Established Ogun State Graduate Scheme (OGUNGRAD)

Healthcare Initiatives by Daniel:

  • Created Ogun State Rural Medical Program (OGRUMED)
  • Implemented medical outreach programs

Daniel ensured local contractors handled major projects, keeping Ogun State resources within the state. Daniel’s administration held two autonomous local government elections, enabling grassroots development where chairmen constructed schools, hospitals, markets, and roads.

Daniel’s Senatorial Achievements

Since joining the Senate, Daniel has maintained his commitment to Ogun East through comprehensive legislative work:

Bills Sponsored by Daniel:

  1. Federal College of Aviation, Ilara Remo (Committee Stage)
  2. South West Development Commission (Presidential Assent achieved)

2027 Elections: Nine Political Parties Obtain INEC Access Codes for Candidate Nominations

July 1, 2026
The Presidency has dismissed the political strength of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, insisting that President Bola Tinubu is no longer under any threat from the former Labour Party presidential candidate. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made the remarks during an appearance on the *Mic On Podcast*, where he defended the Tinubu administration against criticisms from the opposition. According to Dare, while Obi may have posed a significant political challenge in the past, the current administration believes its achievements have strengthened President Tinubu’s position ahead of future elections. He also rejected calls by Obi for President Tinubu to resign, arguing that such demands have no constitutional basis. “The government is not afraid of Peter Obi. Just as he has the right to ask President Tinubu to resign, the government also has the right to tell him that the President will not resign because there is no basis for such a demand,” Dare said. He stressed that Nigeria operates a constitutional presidential system with elections held every four years, adding that the proper avenue for seeking political change is through the ballot box. Dare maintained that the administration has made measurable progress in addressing the country's challenges, insisting that its performance has earned it public confidence. According to him, the government has successfully confronted critical national issues and remains focused on delivering its mandate rather than being distracted by opposition rhetoric. The presidential aide further claimed that Obi no longer represents the political force he once did, stating that the President now stands on a stronger political footing because of his administration’s record. He concluded by expressing confidence that Obi would be unable to repeat his 2023 electoral success over Tinubu in Lagos State. “Peter Obi was a threat before, but today he is no longer a threat because we stand on the solid ground of performance. We have been able to interrogate the problems of this country. Peter Obi will not defeat President Tinubu in Lagos again,” Dare declared.

Daniel’s Strategic Positioning

Daniel’s strong working relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu positions Ogun East favorably for accelerated federal development. Daniel’s connections and legislative expertise make him invaluable for securing resources and projects for the senatorial district.

Why Daniel Deserves Re-election

Daniel’s performance demonstrates exceptional dedication to constituent welfare. As a first-term senator, Daniel has delivered unprecedented empowerment programs, infrastructure projects, and legislative initiatives. Daniel’s experience as former governor, combined with his current senatorial achievements, makes him uniquely qualified to continue representing Ogun East.

The late Bob Marley sang, “Who the cap fits, let him wear it.” Daniel has proven the cap fits perfectly. The best appreciation for Daniel’s exemplary service is the opportunity to do more.

Ogun East residents are urged to re-elect Otunba Gbenga Daniel as Senator in 2027, ensuring continued progress and prosperity for the district.
