The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has announced the commencement of his campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Obi disclosed this on Friday morning during a press briefing, where he outlined the direction of the party’s campaign.
The former Anambra State governor said the NDC would focus its campaign on issues affecting the lives and wellbeing of Nigerians rather than allowing ethnic or religious considerations to dominate the political discourse.
According to Obi, the campaign will centre on addressing the major challenges facing the country and presenting solutions capable of improving the lives of citizens.
The announcement marks the formal beginning of the NDC’s efforts to mobilise support for Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Obi urged Nigerians to pay attention to the issues and policies being presented by political parties as the country moves towards the next general election.
The NDC candidate had previously positioned his political platform around improving governance, strengthening the economy and addressing challenges affecting ordinary Nigerians.
